Frequently asked Questions
-
How do I know if I have storm damage?
Storm damage to your roof can sometimes be seen from the ground. You may notice raised or curled shingles, or some shingles that have blown off. It is best to have a trained professional inspect your roof for damage that you cannot see and provide the storm date and photo evidence. -
What problems can arise from storm damage?
Hail impact makes dents in the mat of your asphalt shingles, which causes granule loss. When there is an absence of granules, there is no way of protecting the roof matting from sunlight. This causes premature aging, leaks as well as mold. Storm damage will void the warranty of your shingles. -
Will my insurance premium increase if I file a claim?
Typically your premium will not increase. This is because the damage to your home is the result of a natural disaster and the events which caused the damage were beyond your control. -
What is my time frame for filing a claim?
Most insurance companies have a limited claim period. Typically, if you have not filed a claim to complete all necessary repairs within one year, your insurance company will not be required to fully indemnify you for your loss. You should file a claim as soon as possible to make certain that all work will be completed before the insurance deadline and to prevent any additional damage. -
Do I need to get two or more estimates?
It is not necessary to get additional estimates. Drip Edge Roofing is experienced in working with all insurance companies and will make sure that you pay zero out-of-pocket with the exception of your deductible. If a contractor gives you an estimate for less than the pricing determined by your insurance provider, you will not receive the difference. If we determine the repairs cost more than the pricing determined by your insurance provider, we will work with your insurance company to make sure they cover any additional costs. -
